My belly at 37 weeks

It has been a long 2 weeks. Since week 35 I have experienced backache, tiredness and insomnia. Getting dressed is an activity in itself and I have to sit down after it. Owen also can't understand why I won't sit on the carpet and play with him. He climbs onto the couch and pushes me off from behind. I have watched a considerable about of Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics between 1am and 4am. It inspires me to take up some form of extreme sport.

Summary: I feel itchy, bitchy, enormous, swollen and hot in my skin. I know it is better to wait full-term though but it is a real hardship right now. Oh, and it is true, black really makes one look more slim.

Baby Shower

I had a fantastic baby shower and dessert evening with a group of friends. Rachel hosted the party and each of the ladies provided a dessert. They were yummy. I got lovely gifts and as you can see there was a lot of pink. What a blessing the evening was!

Spud at 30 weeks

I must say this pregnancy has been very different to Owens. Probably because I know what to expect this time around. But also the nausea, vomitting and extreme tiredness have been a lot less. Due to the South Africa 2009 year I have had little time to concentrate on all the moments with baby as I should and time has passed so quickly.

Month 0-3 was easy. I was nauseaus in the evening and vomitted occassionally at the sight of poo of any species! Bad body odour made me wretch too. Owen thought it was hilarious and laughed everytime I was bent over the bathroom sink as bending over the toilet made for extended vomitting time.

I enjoy marmite and cheese on toast for breakfast, pickles of any sort, loads of chocolate, sprite, lots of sandwiches and potatoes again. I hope to cut down on the chocolate after baby arrives as I have put on a lot of weight!

At week 20 and week 30 it was confirmed that we are having a girl. So we have picked out one girls name and announced the gender to friends and family. I battled to buy a pink outfit at a sale in the UK as I really am not girly and have two pink pregnancy tops in my cupboard only. Baby will be wearing Owen's clothes for the 1st year of her life as they are fairly unisex and who says a girl can't wear blue?
